Legacy Work: WrightChoice

When I founded WrightChoice Mentoring more than 20 years ago, I didn’t set out to create a program, I set out to answer a need I had once felt myself. As a first-generation college student living with a disability, I knew the power of access, exposure, and having someone in your corner. I also knew how hard it was to find that support if you didn’t come from the “right” zip code, school, or background.

WrightChoice was created to be that bridge. And over the years, I’ve had the privilege of mentoring a generation of students and watching them grow into professionals, leaders, and mentors themselves.

What we do is so much more than mentorships, internships and workshops. Through initiatives like the Pre-Professional Law Program, GetREADY! Summer Series, YourMoneyMentor, and LYNKX2College, we help students see what’s possible—and then walk with them as they pursue it.

This is what I call legacy work.

It’s not glamorous. It takes time, patience, and heart. But it lasts. And it matters.

The students we serve aren’t just preparing for careers, they are discovering their confidence, their voice, and their value. And they’re carrying that forward into their communities and families.

I’m incredibly proud of the mentors, partners, and supporters who’ve joined us on this journey. Because of you, WrightChoice is more than a mentoring program—it’s a movement of transformation.
