Meet
TyKiah

Speaker. Advocate. Mentor. Trailblazer. Author of From Where I Sit.

From the moment I was diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth condition at age three, the world around me looked different—and I’ve spent my life showing others that different isn’t less. I am TyKiah Renee, and From Where I Sit is more than a book. It’s my truth. It’s my lens. It’s a window into the barriers I’ve faced, the resilience I’ve built, and the legacy I’m creating.

As a Black woman living with a disability, I’ve learned to navigate systems that weren’t built with me in mind—and I’ve dared to change them. I founded WrightChoice Mentoring to give young people mentorship, exposure, and belief. Through storytelling, speaking, and service, I advocate for access to every table I sit at—especially those that weren’t originally set for someone like me.

From Where I Sit invites you to see the world through my eyes. It challenges assumptions, breaks down fear, and celebrates strength—not in spite of the struggle, but because of it.

Thank you for being here. Your presence honors my story, and I hope my story empowers yours.

What they counted as weakness may be your strongest gift

TyKiah has been advocating for equity and inclusion long before it was trending. She’s unafraid to stand alone, speak truth to power, and pave the way for others to follow and flourish.

As an Author

In her debut memoir, From Where I Sit, TyKiah offers more than a story—she offers perspective. Her words are both personal and universal, reflecting a life shaped by faith, disability, leadership, and identity. The book is a call to action for anyone who has ever felt unseen or underestimated: your voice matters, and your seat at the table is earned.
